Women’s Workwear Event

Scott Direct and Petroineos are hosting a special one-off event dedicated to women’s workwear event on 28th June 2018 at Petroineos Manufacturing Scotland.

The event is in response to a rising demand for workwear tailored to women. Event co-organisers Petroineos identified a problem with safety wear compliance in their female workforce and on further investigation, it became apparent that the issue was a lack of suitable choice. Helen Bowie, Behaviour Safety Culture Improvement Coach, Petroineos explained, “if our employees feel good in their workwear, both in terms of comfort and style, they are much more likely to wear the designated safety and protective clothing”.

Scott Direct was quick to respond. Working with their supply chain they compiled a diverse range of safety and protective garments suitable for women working in any industrial environment. Chris Pauley, Business Development Manager, Scott Direct believes, “it is no longer necessary for women to settle for men’s styles and clothing sizes. Our ranges are specially designed to offer maximum protection and safety, but not at the expense of style and comfort”.

With many industries such as chemical, construction and engineering actively seeking to increase the percentage of women in their workforce, the need for a greater choice of safety wear is clear. Scott Direct has invited its key suppliers to exhibit, including: Portwest, Roots for Safety, Orn, Regatta, Crag Hoppers, Uvex, V12, Alpha Solway, Riley Eyewear, Delta Plus, Globus, Honeywell, MSA, Scott Safety, 3M.

Also exhibiting will be Seahawk, a Scott Group company specialising in the manufacture of bespoke safety and protective clothing as well as offering outsize and garment modification services. Peter Stewart, General Manager, Seahawk explained: “even with the increase in choice available from many of the other suppliers exhibiting, it is sometimes beneficial to be able to develop a bespoke design in collaboration with the end user.” Seahawk’s experienced team of designers, pattern cutters and machinists work together to create garments that meet the dual demands of form and function.
