Buyer – Timber

The opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join our procurement team based at Head Office, Dunfermline.

Reporting to the Procurement Director, the Buyer will work with the Operations team to ensure that regular and ad hoc timber requirements are fully met. Utilising existing pricing agreements and sourcing relevant timber when existing pricing agreements are not available or timber is not available in an acceptable time frame, the Buyer will assist in meeting profitability and working capital targets.

In ensuring that timber requirements are fully met; you will also contribute to the development of the forecasting process to minimise timber stock and utilise slow moving timber through both operational demands and reworking opportunities. You will also hold regular meetings with key suppliers, developing & managing positive relationships and sourcing alternative supplies when appropriate.

As an experienced Buyer, you will ideally have knowledge of the timber supply or other complex and volatile supply markets; with experience of commercial analysis, report writing and a proven ability to deliver to tight and conflicting deadlines. Confident and resilient in your own abilities, you will be diligent in all aspects of work, using your market awareness to drive profitability.
