SCOTT GROUP HISTORY
2001 - 2004
A bold move in March 2003 saw Scott Timber double its £15 million turnover with the acquisition of Combine Pallets, one of the company's main rivals. The company added sites in England and Wales to its expanding network and by the end of the year had a turnover of £35 million.
In February 2004, the Group acquired Hammond Pallets based in Cheshire and with this Scott Timber gained the UK's most advanced pallet making machine - the £1.6 million Italian made Corali.
By May, the leading timber products supplier, James Industrial Ltd in Wigan was acquired; followed by the takeover of HS Timber in Stoke-on-Trent which resulted in a strategic English base for Scott Timber.
By securing a majority stake in Welsh firm Combine Packaging, the Group made its first steps in diversifying the business. By widening its offering, the Group was able to provide customers with a complete packaging solution from off the shelf products to customised designs.
To ensure Scott Timber's commitment to fast, consistent deliveries, the Group announced at the end of the year it was to invest in a dedicated haulage fleet. The £750,000 deal with MAN ERF UK secured 15 tractor units to operate across the UK.
